Week 3 - I Let My Guard Down… Now What?
There was a day when I tried to convince myself and others that I didn’t have any anger or resentments or fears. I didn’t know how to let my guard down. And let’s just be honest: the fear isn’t really in letting your guard down, but it’s the fear of what comes afterwards. Is it possible that letting your guard down is the key not only to your happiness, but the happiness of others as well?
Teré Fowler-Chapman will join me as our Guest Storyteller. I heard Teré share in a group of people recently: “I’m a transgendered black man, and I’m an alcoholic.” Then he dropped the line: “Today I am learning how to let my guard down.” That line stuck with me. I invited Teré to come share that story. He’s been coming to FREE for the past couple months, and he came in with the assumption that he’d be told God hated him. Today, he’s learning how to let his guard down not just with others, but with God too. And…last week Teré hit 30 days sober!
