From Unworthiness & Shame to Death & New Life
The Big Book of AA drops the line: “Abandon yourself to God as you understand God.” Abandon…to give up completely, to surrender. Jesus said: “All who want to save their lives will lose them.” Lose them…death and dying. In the New Testament, Phillip [a religious insider] baptizes an Ethiopian Eunuch [an outcast, an outsider, one who would’ve be considered “damaged goods”]. One thing I know, and our recovery teaches us over & over: old stories must die so new stories can live.
After the message, we’ll do some baptisms in the wagon (the faces you see in the pic)! When we do baptisms in this FREE community, it is remembering together that God is already well-pleased—YOU ARE NOT DAMAGED GOODS. We are proclaiming together: old stories of unworthiness & shame must die so new stories of love & acceptance can live.
